Human have several parts that are unique from the other’s identity. One of the widely used is the fingerprint biometrics, Fingerprint biometrics is a dynamic technology that is being adopted into new markets and applications at a rapidly increasing pace. With lesser price this keyless lock (Fingerprint biometrics) has emerged as the most popular biometric technology to protect confidential computer information as they enable convenient security for desktop and Internet applications, it is also widely used for different applications not only for securing company files or personal files but this keyless lock is also used for office and home door lock which is also a lot reliable compared to an ordinary door lock.

Fingerprint door locks for homes allow security control over individual’s access without the need to replace locks when a key is lost or stolen. Employees that are required to carry an electronic or magnetic ID to enter their office will also appreciate the convenience associated with a fingerprint activated lock. This will also allow bigger companies to save from replacement of magnetic ID’s over and over again.

What advantage and disadvantages do you get from having a finger print biometrics?

Universality
Advantage: Fingerprint is one factor to consider in biometrics because almost all can use this keyless lock technology.
Disadvantage: Those with skin diseases or any disorders can’t use the technology.

Uniqueness
Advantage: Each person has unique finger print even twins don’t have the same finger prints.
Disadvantage: Because of the uniqueness, stolen finger prints also mean your access is stolen for good. Law enforcement officers found that any smooth, hard surface touched by a human hand would yield fingerprints made by the oily secretion present on the skin. When these so-called latent prints were dusted with powder or chemically treated, the identifying fingerprint pattern could be seen and photographed or otherwise preserved.

Performance
Advantage: A lot secure compared to any ordinary locks. Fingerprint scanners are more accurate, faster and require less computation and storage compared to other biometrics.
Disadvantage: Like any other devices, keyless lock can be damaged. Fingerprint recognition systems for large-scale deployments require a large amount of computational resources.

Though there are a lot of feed backs regarding the keyless lock fingerprint authentication there are still ways to strengthen the system and one method for improving the accuracy of biometric authentication systems is to enforce “two-factor authentication”, that is one must authenticate by some biometric form as well as use a password or posses a token.

Code Igniter is an PHP Application Development Framework – a toolkit for PHP developers. The main goal of Code Igniter is to enable developers to develop projects much faster than they could have done ( if they have started from scratch) by providing a rich set of libraries for commonly needed tasks, as well as a simple interface and logical structure to access these libraries.

You can download Code Igniter from http://www.codeigniter.com/

How to Install:

1. Download the zip file from the above URL.

2. unzip the files and put them to your webserver where you want to. lets assume that you put it at codeigniter folder of your web server.

3. Open the application/config/config.php file with a text editor and set your base URL. lets assume that your base URL is set like this:

$config['base_url'] = “http://localhost/codeigniter/”;

Note:

Where code igniter is the folder name where you saved the downloaded files.

4. if you intend to use a database, open the application/config/database.php file with a text editor and set your database settings. Set the following variables according to your setup.

$db['default']['hostname'] = “localhost”; $db['default']['username'] = “root”; $db['default']['password'] = “*****”; $db['default']['database'] = “codeigniterDb”; $db['default']['dbdriver'] = “mysql”; $db['default']['dbprefix'] = “”; $db['default']['active_r'] = TRUE; $db['default']['pconnect'] = TRUE; $db['default']['db_debug'] = TRUE; $db['default']['cache_on'] = FALSE; $db['default']['cachedir'] = “”; 5. now you are ready to run our installed piece of software. in order to run Code Igniter you have to visit the following URL in you web server. http://localhost/codeigniter/index.php/ if your setup is correct then you will see a welcome page with heading “Welcome to Code Igniter!” Now you are ready to work with Code Igniter. Note: if you try to access the Code Igniter installation like the following then you will definitely get an error message. http://localhost/codeigniter/ http://localhost/codeigniter/index.php By default Code Igniter follows (Search Engine Friendly (SEF) URL and for this they use segment based URL which will come to next tutorial.

Among the many entries here are a lot of pointless ones, by the way. You can remove the Log Off entry on the Start Menu, for example, which certainly isn’t high on my list of must-haves. But who knows, you may want to do that or any of the many other changes the Group Policy Editor allows. Go in there yourself and muck around; you’ll find plenty to change.

There are some tools and procedures that can tell with 99.44 percent accuracy whether your computer has a virus. Here are the actions to take:

1. Find out whether your computer has antivirus software:
Check for any Anti-virus software installed on your computer. To do this just Click Start>control Panel>Security Center.

2. Find out whether your antivirus software is up to date:
You can always know whether your anti virus is up to date because most of the antivirus gives a warning whenever your antivirus is not up to date.

3. Scan your computer for viruses: When you know that your computer has antivirus software — and that it’s up to date — you can use it to scan your computer for viruses.
If you have an Internet connection, you might think that you can take a shortcut and try one of those online virus scanning tools — but don’t do that at this point! The risks of connecting to the Internet without antivirus software and a firewall are greater than the benefit you’d get from knowing whether you have a virus — and you could end up with a virus if you use the ’Net unprotected. (It’s like drinking unboiled water from a polluted river — think Montezuma’s Revenge here). For some really good reasons not to use an online scanning tool as a first resort, because this might be frauds and could be sources for viruses. Suffice to say: Make sure you’re protected before you venture out.

4. Remove the virus: If your virus-scanning tool finds a virus on your computer, there are two basic outcomes:
• Automatic removal: Chances are your virus scanning tool will be able to fix your computer by removing the virus. Most of the time this is the case. Newer virus tools will, in effect, tell you, “Hey you, I found a virus on your computer. Do you want me to clean it up or not?” I really cannot imagine why you would want to say no.
Personally I think you should just get rid of the virus right away and deal with the consequences, however mild or severe, afterward.
• Manual removal — and more work: If, however, your virus-scanning tool tells you that it cannot get rid of the virus, a little more work is in order. For instance, you may need to download a special virus removal tool from your antivirus software vendor; such tools are sometimes built for specific, hardto-remove viruses.
When you get rid of viruses, you’ve made a good start. (Done? Who said anything about done?) Review the ways you use your computer: Did something you do regularly get you into virus trouble in the first place? By identifying the things you do that expose you to threats like viruses, you can reduce your exposure by doing some things differently. Preventive actions — the cyber equivalent of washing your hands before handling food — take a little time, but they can save a lot of misery later.
For example, many of today’s personal computers can perform a billion additions per second. A person operating a desk calculator could spend an entire lifetime performing calculations and still not complete as many calculations as a powerful personal computer can perform in one second! (Points to ponder: How would you know whether the person added the numbers correctly? How would you know whether the computer added the numbers correctly?) Today’s fastest supercomputers can perform trillions of additions per second!
