Yesterday a friend of mine ask if I know how remove his windows 7 WAT so he could explore more with his windows 7 Operating System.  I told him that I have a tool to remove Windows XP Windows Genuine Advantage but I can help him find a tool for it and told him that he’d rather buy a genuine one because we can really never make sure that if we find one it will be permanent but he insisted of using one.  To help everybody who also needs to extend their usage of windows 7 this article is for you.

MySQL is proprietary and some developers are now merging to Postgre SQL.  If you are running windows you might come across this error.  I am using windows 7 ultimate and encountered this error during installation.  I solved the problem using the command

You need to navigate to where you downloaded the installer using the command prompt then you can use the command above to run the installer w/o the error

1.  Open the command prompt or type cmd on the run window

2.  To unregister the VBScript engine, run this command: reg delete “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}” /f

3.  After that I reused the command regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Those 3 simple steps helped me in solving the problem and was able to install the software.  The keyword for this I think is to unregister VBScript engine first before proceeding to the registration.  Hope this solves the problem.

1. Open Regedit by typing Regedit on the search box in windows 7
2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell
3. Create a new Key(Right click on shell > new > Key) and name it “Open with Scite”
4. Create a new key under the folder “Open with Scite” and name it command
5. On the right pane you can edit default by double clicking it and add the value C:\Program Files\SciTE Source Code Editor\SciTE.exe %1 or you can have the path to where you installed scite and just add %1 to get it working. 
6. Click ok and everything is ready.

In the past weeks my friend asked me of his problem regarding his windows media player’s validation.  He was able to download the software but before you can install it you need to have it validated.  He installed Winamp as a substitute for his media player but I was thinking that it is not necessary to install another Media Player.  I solved the problem by downloading this file and first thing to do is just doubles click the registry file and then install the set-up file.

You can restart your computer or you may not then you can now fully use your Genuine windows media player 11.  Note:  This is only for experimental purposes buying the Microsoft software is always the best option.

1. download the files here.

2. extract the files on your computer. You should see 2 folders in it. 1 folder is named gpedit files and the other is GroupPolicy.

3. Copy this and paste on Run %SystemRoot%\system32 or you can navigate to c: >> windows >> system 32 with this path on the address bar C:\WINDOWS\system32.

4. Copy the files inside gpedit files folder and paste in on system32 folder.

5. Copy the GroupPolicy folder and paste it on system32 folder

6. Go to run and type CMD or open the command prompt

7. Enter the following commands on the command prompt one by one:

regsvr32 gpedit.dll
regsvr32 fde.dll
regsvr32 gptext.dll
regsvr32 appmgr.dll
regsvr32 fdeploy.dll

8. Now go to run and type gpedit.msc, you can now set the policy on your windows xp computer.

By default the GroupPolicy folder is hidden, I just changed the folders attributes so that you guys can see it and so that it won’t look “suspicious”.  You can hide it back or you can leave it as is.

I have tested the files in a windows xp professional edition operating system.  I believe this will also work on other versions of windows XP (though I haven’t tested it, try it on your own risk).

If you want users to copy the files without any changes the you can just do it by checking the first box.  Then click OK.  To access the file from other users you can go to START and click RUN.  Type the name of the computer you want to access after a double back slash(\\) and click  OK one example is by typing \\weak where weak is the name of the computer I want to access. Before you can access the computer your firewall must be turned off.

or you can use the ip address \\192.168.250.234 or yo can see it by going to my network places and click view workgroup computers and click the PC you wannt to access.

And from here you can see the shared files from other computers.  And if you want them to change the files on your shared folder just check the 2nd check box.  From here other users within the network can make changes to the files and they can even delete it.  So be careful whatever files you are trying to share.
